J.W. was pastor at Empire,IL, professor at Carthage College, Secretary of theBoard of Church Extension of the General Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, professor in Gettysburg Theological Seminary, and an author of notablebooks. Mrs. Richards was a very religious person of ability and of socialgrace, cooperating in many ways in her husband's work...taking an active part in the missionary and temperance movements. She wrote a detailed history of her familyfrom which many of these details were taken...the couple had one daughter, Mary, who died at eleven years old...Mrs. Richard died in the home ofher sister, Mrs. Mary Tressler Arnold, in harrisburg. She and her daughter,Mary, are buried side by side in the Lebanon Church Cemetery at Loysville...in March 1891, Dr. Richard married his second wife, marie Coffinberry...authorof several books |
