"He [Arabut Ludlow] was born in Burlington June 22, 1818, son of James and Rosanna (Morton) Ludlow [married November 13, 1817, Williston, Vermont; LDS file # 452902]. The father was a farmer of Burlington, and the only son of a farmer of English ancestry [also named James; wife: Mercy Hyde; married in 1794 or earlier; LDS file # 455834], who lived to a good old age. To James and Rosanna Ludlow was born three children: Arabut [born June 21, 1818; Jane, who married Addison Macomber; and Rosanna [born April 2, 1823], who married Benjamin Chenowith, of Monroe. The mother died [Jan. 20, 1824; cemetery record] when the youngest child [Rosanna] was a babe, and the father for his second wife married a Miss Alexander, by whom he had one son [Calvin, born October 5, 1827; died August 24, 1894], now [i.e. as of the date of the article, 1901] deceased. The father died comparatively young in life, while visiting in New York State." Please make check or money order payable to Treasurer General, NSDAR. Previously verified DAR membership and supplemental applications can be used as genealogical research tools as well as documentation for new applications. As long as there is no reason to believe that the lineage or service is incorrect on an older application paper, it can always be used as genealogical proof documentation. If DAR verified the lineage in the past, the applicant does not have to send documentation to DAR to prove her lineage, therefore expediting the entire process for the applicant and the verifying genealogist. Copies of previously verified DAR membership applications (record copies) can be ordered for $10 from the Library Copy Services Office. Please note, record copies only consist of the application, and not copies of the supporting documentation that originally accompanied it. Call Search Services (202) 879-3245 to get a copy of the supporting documentation. Revolutionary War Ancestor Documentation files: This includes locating the documentation file (also known as “supporting documentation” or “proofs”) that was used as proof for an application. Please note: Requests are limited to two (2) DAR ancestors’ names per hour request. Not every member submitted data. The DAR does not have a file for every Revolutionary War ancestor. We do not copy vital records issued by a government agency over the last 75 years. Fee for NSDAR members is $30.00/hour. Fee for nonmembers is $40.00/hour. The minimum request is one hour. The hourly fee covers 10 photocopies of material. (For more than 10 copies, we will bill you $0.30/page plus $2.00 shipping.)
