Freeport Journal Standard Mount Morris, Ill. — Etta H. Donker, 98, of Mount Morris and a former Leaf River-area resident, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford. She was born Feb. 2, 1912, in German Valley, a daughter of Herman and Clara (Westerman) Borgmann. Etta married Ben Donker on Dec. 14, 1938, in Dubuque, Iowa. He died Dec. 19, 1969. Mrs. Donker and her husband were lifelong Leaf River-area farmers. Etta enjoyed puzzle books and playing cards, especially 42. She is survived by two daughters, Edna (Edwin) Smith of Oregon and Phyllis (Ron) Dilbeck of Davis Junction; her brother, James Borgmann of Brodhead, Wis.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; six brothers, Garhart, Joe, John, Herman, Clarence and Elmer; two sisters, Annetta Ball and Jennie Klapp; and two great-grandsons. The funeral for Mrs. Donker will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, 203 3rd Ave., Forreston. Burial will be at White Oak Cemetery, Forreston. |
