[gattshall phillip.ged] [Test2.ftw] [test4.FTW] [data.gott.ged] Joshua B Gattshall was married on 28 Oct 1879 to Emma J Matthews, by Rev G B Work, at New Paris, Eklhart Co., IN. They had a son, Ralph,who was a graduate of the Goshen High School. but little more is know about the family. on several occasions he made visits to his brother, John Wayne, in Coldwater, KS. Because his wife was a close friend to Laura Lucinda Ott, she probably accompanied him on the trips to Coldwater. Their son, David, died at the age of 2 years. Joshua was reared on his father's farm; obtained his preliminary education in the country schools; at the age of fifteen obtained a teaching certificate and began teaching school & during the subsequent eleven years studied law; was admitted to the Ohio bar in 1879; moved to Warsaw, Indiana in spring of 1880 where he practiced law for twelve years. In 1892 he moved to Goshen, Indiana where he served as County Attorney & for five years was on the editorial staff of the Goshen Daily Times. He also had trotting horse breeding stables near Warsaw. He did business with W. T. Loehr, in 1890. who bought draught horses. In 1896 Joshua took a cargo of trotting horses to London, England, for Edgar Snow, of Boston. In 1898 he became chief clerk to Major J. H. Heatwole during the Spanish War and spent some time in Cuba. After his return to Goshen he joined editorial staff of the "New Times".
