Daniel was one of the leading enterprising men of Spring Grove, WI, per ' 'History of Green Co, WI' ', 1884. He owned a model farm and fine buildings, since 1859.He came west with his father's family in 1845, making the entire trip in emigrant wagons. He started his work career as a mechanic, as shown on his marriage licence application.He was a prominent citizen of the town, serving as assessor and treasurer. He served a term as state Assemblyman, and was President of the Washington Cemetery Association. He was a major stockholder of the Brodhead Dairy Co. In 1870, he met with an unfortunate accident. While out on a chicken hunt, in taking a gun from the wagon, with the muzzle pointed toward him, the gun accidently fired and the charge struck him near the wrist joint of his right arm. The wound made amputation of the arm between the elbow and the wrist necessary.He was shown in the 1870, 1880, 1900 census, living in Spring Grove, Green Co, WI.Died of myocardia. |
