Whitehall Twp., Northampton, Pa.-137 acres Based on my research thus far, I believe the evidence is strongest that Johann Jacob, arriving on the Neptune in 1752, is the immigrant ancestor of the Dormeyers that later settled in Westmoreland and Armstrong Counties, Pa. Emigration data, according to the Burgert book, from a 1763 inventory of Nickel Koppel, a notary public in Dehlingen, shows that :..., the daughter (of Nickel Koppel)-Maria Elisabeth and her husband Jacob Dormeyer are in America. The same publication states that ' 'records of Saarwarden County office for Berg und Thal: Dated April 10, 1769, inventory of Nickel Schoneberger of Bern; Jacob Dormeyer, the son of Johann Jacob Dormeyer and Anna Catharina Schonenberger, is in America.' ' Johann Jacob came to America with his wife and three living children, Johann Andreas, Johann Jacob and Johann George in 1752 on the Ship Neptune. Land records indicate Johann Jacob and his wife Elizabeth had land, about 137 acres, in Whitehall Twp., Northampton County, Pa. He died sometime by 1772 and his wife, Elizabeth asked to sell land to pay debts and bring up her children. She had remarried by that time, and her new surname was Snerr. It is not known how Maritn arrived in America. Chances are since he was a child, he was missed on the PA lists and no record of the Ships passengers has been found. He was a Wagoner -- Also possible September 15, 1749-Ship Phoenix, John Mason, Master from Rotterdam via Cowes, England-passengers fro Zqeybrech, Nassau, Wirtemberg, and Palatinate (no specific indication of women and children).
